When I was a kid, my grandfather wore a watch he never set down. I was fascinated by it, but not for the reason you'd think. I was fascinated by the seconds in between: the gap between one tick and the next, the space where time is but nothing happens. Most people look at a watch to see the hour. I looked at one to see everything else.
I joined the military on a coin flip, it was between that and film school. In boot camp I broke my Fossil on the butt of my gun during training, and chose not to replace it. I liked the idea of keeping a reminder of the exact time my watch died.
That fascination never left. Then, February 2025: I was sitting at my desk, about to send my Omega in for service. I paused, and said it out loud — "Screw it. I'll just do it myself." Went full send that afternoon. Started designing. Refined it again. And again. Worked with a watch engineer on everything my skill set couldn't cover.
Every Mercier is designed by me, to the millimeter. Each case is serial-numbered on the back. Every detail is there with intent: a custom dial we couldn't buy off the shelf, a 2 o'clock pusher that isn't round — which meant engineering a welded sheath with its own gasket to keep the case waterproof. Nothing on this watch exists because it was easy.
